We drove to Cave Junction, Or and then another 20 miles of crooked and narrow road to the Oregon Caves National Monument. It is a beautiful drive but Barb does not like roads that don't have guard rails and drop off hundreds of feet. She didn't look to the side as we climb up to the cave entrance. We didn't take a cave tour as there are 500 stair steps. There was a little snow still in the shaded spots. Lots of fir and other evergreen trees. The only wild life we saw was blue jays and squirrels.
We received a phone call from friends, Cliff and Brenda German. Inviting us over for some hamburgers and goodies. Some other friends were going to be there, John and Carolyn Wooten. We all had worked at the Marine Corps Base at Barstow, CA. John and Carolyn are the latest to retire. It was great catching up on the latest happenings of the old work place and know that it is not your worry anymore. It was nice to see these folks again.
On the way back to our campsite we saw a fat raccoon and two deer.
