We arrived in Whitehorse, YT and stayed at the Pioneer RV Park. We have stayed here before. Our trip in was uneventful except for a low tire on Wayne's car. We were stopped for some construction and a fellow RV’er noticed it and got Wayne’s attention and got it pumped up so he could drive on in to Whitehorse. We stayed 3 days in Whitehorse to see everything. We also met the couple parked next to us who are friends of the folks who write the blog “Dharma’s Family”, which we read on a regular basis.
Some of the attractions we visited were Miles Canyon , the fish ladder and the “Frantic Follies”.
At Miles Canyon we crossed the river on a swinging bridge. This canyon was a large obstacle for the gold miners of 1898. Paddle wheelers were eventually used to transport goods thru here. I bet it was quite a ride.
The” Frantic Follies” is a great show, lots of laughs.
We also cooked out and the ladies were worn out from all the work!!!!!! Or maybe from eating to much!!!!
Took a bus and train tour to Skagway, AK and back. The bus took us to Fraser, BC via Carcross, YT. At Fraser we boarded the narrow gauge train, the “White Pass and Yukon Route”, for the ride to Skagway. This train follows the route the gold seekers of 1898 took to get to the Yukon. What views, the pictures don’t do justice to the scenery. In Skagway we got lunch at the Bonanza Bar and Grill, then to the ice cream shop for dessert. The bus picked us up and drove us back to Whitehorse. Another great day.
The below picture marks the official border between the US and Canada.
