Because we don’t have Wi-Fi all the time this post will include several days. While we were in Banff, AB we rode the Gondola to the top. The Gondola ride was only a few minutes each way, and very smooth. The views are wonderful. There is a board walk that goes from the visitor center to the top of the mountain. We took about an hour walking on the board walk to get to the top, I had to stop often. About half that time coming down. Our friends Wayne and Diane Cunningham are traveling with us and will be seen in many photos. I hope you can get some idea of the beauty of these landscapes and animals that we are seeing first hand.
The next day we drove to the Columbia ice field. There we rode a large bus like vehicle up the mountain and out on to the glacier. Again the views are spectacular. The colors of the ice you would expect to be white, but they are more turquoise. It was hard to decide which view to take a picture of as there were so many spectacular mountains and glaciers. Some of the glaciers looked like they were hanging in space and would come crashing down at any time.
The bear and mountain goat we saw as we drove through the mountains near Banff and north. We saw lots of water falls. This is a sampling of them. The black bear was busy eating dandelions and paid very little attention to us. Dandelions are candy to bears. The goat was high on the side of the mountain having lunch. We stopped very quickly as we had traffic behind us.
