Columbia River

Waterfalls along the Columbia River.

Bonneville Dam

Salmon going upstream.

Danielle and Josh
Yesterday we spent the day with our granddaughter Danielle and her husband Josh. They just got married the 5th of April 09. It was nice to spend the day with them.

We left Canby, OR this morning headed north and east. Our plan is to stay in Hermiston, OR this evening. It was raining a little as we were hooking up but not enough to stop us. Driving along the Columbia River is a beautiful drive. You can see waterfalls along the bluffs. In the river many fishing boats and a few barges being pushed up the river by large tug boats. Also a few miles east of Portland, OR is the Bonneville Dam and fish ladders. We have been here before and always enjoy stopping and watching to see the salmon going up stream. We talked to a host at the dam about the salmon run. It looked like it was kind of low this year. He said that it was way down this year and didn't know why. We did see a few salmon headed upstream. We were in this area earlier this month and took some pictures of the water falls which I will include.

As we drive we are always looking for wildlife, today we had a sighting of two big horn sheep along the highway. One of the sheep's horns had a full curl and starting on the second. No time or place to stop for pictures.
We drove 217 miles today. Arrived in Pioneer RV Park, Hermiston,OR about 3:45 PM. A nice drive. This is a Passport America park which is nice to save a buck or two.
During our drive we had rain occasionally, and as they say in Oregon a few sun breaks, but as I sit typing this it is raining quite hard. It is a good thing I took my walk earlier.
