We have made reservations for a wild life cruise on Saturday. Checked the fishing and making plans to go silver salmon fishing. The reports are that the fish are not in close yet. Hope they move in soon.
Today we went to the Valdez Museum, it is small but quite nice. A few pictures, they cover from the 1898 gold rush with the miners cabin, the oil pipe line and some of the early life style and native American clothing and weapons.
Early miners camper, a bar from long ago, notice the spittoons.
I am glad the roads have gotten better than in this picture. The first barrel of oil, and it is full.
Clothing worn by the Alutiiqs in rainy weather, and early weapons.
Early fire fighting equipment. It has been nicely restore.
We drove out to the Valdez glacier and took a few pictures. We could not drive up to the glacier and it was a longer hike than I wanted to do. This water from the glacier forms a lake and then runs into a fair size river that empties into the Prince William Sound.
As we look around the mountains that surround the town and harbor of Valdez we can see water falls cascading down the mountain side. It is hard to show the beauty of this place. No matter if the sun is shining or it is raining, it is beautiful.
